The Impact of EMF Radiation on Health

The Impact of EMF Radiation on Health

“Very recently, new research is suggesting that nearly all the human plagues which emerged in the twentieth century, like common acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children, female breast cancer, malignant melanoma and asthma, can be tied to some facet of our use of electricity. There is an urgent need for governments and individuals to take steps to minimize community and personal EMF exposures.”

– Samuel Milham MD, MPH, Medical epidemiologist in occupational epidemiology and first scientist to report increased leukemia and other cancers in electrical workers and to demonstrate that the childhood age peak in leukemia emerged in conjunction with the spread of residential electrification.

From SMART technology and small appliances to power sources and microwaves, we are perpetually bombarded with invisible man-created EMF radiation. While one might not be concerned with the impact of a single EMF producing item, the cumulative effect of the numerous radiation-emitting personal and environmental objects give many experts pause. So, what are some of the ways EMFs have been said to affect the body health?

Power Lines and Child Cancer

One of the most significant sources of EMF radiation is a power line. Because these installations carry so much electricity, they have much more radiation than household machinery. Remember, electric and magnetic fields increase based on the voltage and current within a particular device, and power lines have thousands of volts coursing through them at any given time.

For the most part, being near a power line doesn’t provide exceptional danger. However, for anyone living next to or underneath one, elevated EMF radiation can be much more of a problem. Several studies have looked at the correlation between proximity to power lines and cancer rates (specifically, leukemia) in children.

What most of these studies found is that children exposed to high magnetic fields were more likely to develop leukemia. These fields are measured in microteslas, which are written as µT. Children exposed to levels of µT greater than 0.3 are at the most considerable risk. However, according to three different studies, fewer than one percent of participants were in that range.

Still, if you live close to a power line, it’s probably a good idea to keep away from it as much as possible, particularly if you have children.

Overall, when it comes to the dangers of EMF radiation, the results are mixed. It appears that some people are more obviously sensitive to them than others, which can sometimes create health-related issues.

Signs of Excessive EMF Radiation

Although diseases like cancer can immediately grab your attention, the fact is that elevated EMF radiation can affect your body in a myriad of ways. Here are some warning signs that you’re being exposed to too many electromagnetic fields.

  • Insomnia or General Sleeplessness
  • Exhaustion or Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Lack of Concentration
  • Dizziness
  • Restlessness and Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Nausea
  • Skin Tingling or Burning

As you can imagine, many of these symptoms can be caused by other factors, so it’s crucial to identify other potential causes before assuming that EMF radiation is to blame. However, if you start to notice some of these side effects while using particular devices (i.e., microwave or cell phone), experiment with limiting your exposure.

If you are worried about excessive EMF radiation, one of the best ways to identify potential problem areas is to buy an EMF detector. These devices can show you the strength of electric and magnetic fields produced by various machinery. Here are a few examples to help you understand when levels are elevated. As long as your EMF radiation is below these numbers, you should be okay.

  • Power Lines (Not Close) – 100 volts per minute (V/m)
  • Power Lines (Close) – 10,000 V/m
  • TV Screens – 10 V/m
  • Radar – 9 V/m
  • Microwave Oven – 14 V/m

One thing to keep in mind about EMF readers is that they are designed for low-level radiation, and the sensitivity of these devices can vary greatly. Be sure to do some research to determine which ones are the most accurate.

Invest in EMF Mitigating Products

While general exposure to EMF radiation may not create apparent, specific health problems, it’s wise to check in with your body, particularly if you notice symptom patterns that come and go. Chances are that you’re exposed to electromagnetic fields a lot more than you realize, which can potentially lead to elevated exposure levels.

An increase in EMF-harm awareness has led to an increase in EMF information and protective products, from personal to devices to home. There are even simple and affordable ways to protect your pets.

Not willing to give up electricity or refuse to use technology? We get it! It’s not realistic for most. However, if the experts who decry the safety of some of our technology are correct, it would be prudent to do something to protect the well-being and vitality of yourself, your family and your pets.

Whether you invest in wearables and gadgets, or simply super boost your body’s immune capacity, the most important thing is to adopt your own personal EMF protection plan.
